Skater Skirt

October 23, 2016

My friend, Josh, winced when I told him I was posting a look in my Thrasher t-shirt and a SKIRT. Being that he's the one who is helping me become a better skater and gets how important it is to me, he knows I dont rep Thrasher lightly. I definitely wouldn't skate in this long pleated skirt - he's right about that.

As you may already know from my previous posts, I believe that getting dressed can be the ultimate form of self expression. It gives you the lovely luxury to adorn whatever it is you please each and every day! The clothing you decide to put together, naturally, becomes a representation of who you are. So, yeah i'm going to pair whatever it is I want to with my Vans.

When I was ten I was the only girl wearing Heelys to school, but I also hoarded a crap ton of Barbies dresses. I dreamt of wearing them together... if only those dresses were in my size. I think it's safe to say that my interests haven't changed all thaaat much.

While unpacking my new apartment, my clothing was all over the place. I was getting frustrated because my go-to pieces were hiding from me. I started to look at the clothes I unpacked in the same way I inherently did as a kid. I remembered those Heelys and the darn Barbie dresses I dreamt would grow in size. Then I realized... they have!

This Aritzia skirt is definitely an item from a childhood dream. It is so much fun to wear. With anything. I love the texture of the pleats, as well as the sheerness of the chiffon. I initially bought it to wear out on New Years - of course with heels and all that Jazz - but I found myself putting it on to wear to work paired with sneakers.

Remember, like I have, there are no rules. Outfit yourself the way you're most comfortable, even if some skater boy shoots you a quizzical look.
