This is my first post in the new year and I'm pretty excited about it! My good friend and photographer, Itzel Luccas, and I were both stoked to get together for our first shoot of 2017. She bussed a long way to meet me in a sweet spot of Seattle called Ballard. It sadly (but not surprisingly) started to poor, the coffee shop we wanted to shoot in filled up, and lastly - as if things couldn't get any more unfortunate - her camera crapped out on her. We were both pretty upset. We felt as though the odds were against us and we had no other choice but to reschedule.
But- being the impatient humans we are- Itzel and I decided that we still wanted to try and make the best out of our situation. We took our phones out, turned the flash on, and shot away. The circumstances tested our creativity and honestly... it was the most fun we've had during a shoot. Although it wasn't the ideal situation, we're both really happy with how the photos turned out - they feel a bit more personal and genuine!
I'm wearing a Topshop T-Shirt in my favorite shade of pink. Groovy Chanel jeans bought at a sample sale for $60 and tailored to fit my short legs (I'm 5'5" and had to cut several inches off). I love the use of the classic Chanel tweed for the waistband. My backpack is Prada. Vintage - was my mom's. I recently learned that the Prada backpacks are made out of the same nylon fabric as sailboat sails. How cool is that! It's also pretty fitting that i'm using it here in Seattle. Shoes are Topshop. "California" socks are Brandy Melville. I've been missing So Cal more than usual lately.. Seattle winters can be pretty tough.
I'm not one to make New Years resolutions (I believe that you can make a change for the better on any day of the year!), but I do think that this shoot represents what I strive to be this year... positive, creative, and unapologetically me!
